Thursday... Two words that say a lot about us.

Psalm 70:1 (NIRV), "God, hurry and save me. LORD, come quickly and help me."

Thursday... Two words that say a lot about us.

David writes in Psalm 70 verse 1 two words that we say a lot. In verse 1 (NIRV) he says, "God, hurry and save me. LORD, come quickly and help me." He says these two words that tell a lot about us. The words are "hurry" and "quickly".

Now I am a person who really does not like to stand in line. I have these apps on my phone and I can go to the front of the line to get my coffee. But that is not a good thing when we reach out to God. His clocks keep perfect time. He knows what is ahead. And He knows what is best for us.

We have a situation in our life that we are having to wait and it is not easy. Yes even in old age we can be impatient. Even though we have experience with God we still can be impatient when we have to wait. Well God knows us and He loves us and He still knows what is best. But we still think we know best and maybe that is why He waits.

Yes, God does know best and He also is patient.

Now I'm sure that none of us are kings like David was. Kings say what they want and they expect it to happen as soon as they said it and here he is writing this Psalm but God is still in control even with a king.

Some get to the point where they think all they have to do is ask in a certain way and it will happen but God is patient with us. He knows best and He knows what we need and when we need it.

Now it is important for us to realize that if we don't ask then we won't get. But the timing and the giving is up to God.

King David says in verse 4 (NLT), "But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, 'God is great!'"

Yes we have a definite benefit in having a relationship with God. We can search and be filled with joy and gladness in God and love his salvation and know the fact that He is great. There is nothing that we can bring to Him that He cannot accomplish.

Now the Amplified Bible translates verse 4 this way, "May all those who seek YOU [as life's first priority] rejoice and be glad in You; May those who love your salvation say continually, 'Let God be glorified.'" We do not have pride and rejoice and be glad because we can come to God and when it is done we give glory to ourselves. No, we live to glorify God. In other words not to make us look good but to make God look good.

And then verse 5 shows this this great God is patient with us and really knows us and accepts us even when we are poor and needy and in a hurry. Verse 5 says, "But as for me, I am poor and needy; please hurry to my aid, O God; You are my helper and my savior; O LORD, do not delay."

Yes He loves us and understands us but He still will do what is best for us in His time. Remember God is our life's first priority. And he will do what is best for us in the right time if we ask and we give Him the glory. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Thursday... Maybe we need this word today.

Psalm 57:1b (NIRV), "There I will stay until the danger is gone." Thursday... Maybe we need this word today. There are words in life that give us confidence no matter what we are facing. Now we have to believe them in order for them to have an impact. David wrote Psalm 57 while he was in a cave hiding from Saul who wanted to kill him and he says in the last part of verse 1, "There I will stay." It was a safe place and Saul didn't know that he was there. But he doesn't stop there. With confidence he said, "There I will stay until." And until is definitely a word of faith and confidence. "There I will stay until the danger is gone." Do we need that today? Let me give you the whole verse. In verse 1 David says, "Have mercy on me, God. Have mercy on me." And that is a great place to start in times of trouble. Maybe that is what we need to pray today, "Have mercy on me, God. Have mercy on me." It is so great to have someone...

Tuesday... We just have trouble listening.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." Tuesday... We just have trouble listening. Over in Jeremiah 25:4 (NLT) it says, "Again and again the LORD has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention." And Jeremiah went on to tell what was going to happen. There will be consequences if we do not listen to what God says through his Word. Now the Apostle Paul over in 1 Corinthians was having a problem with some professed Christ followers who were having trouble at listening. And we too can have problems at listening. We can think that being a Christ follower means we do a lot of finger pointing and we give up on people who don't do what we say. We can even do that in our families. But Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." In verse ...

Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute.

Proverbs 19:2 (NLT), "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute. This time of the year is so exciting. We get our paycheck from work and then we head to the store or Amazon and buy and buy and buy all those presents and then our check is gone Proverbs 19:2 (NLT) says, "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." But buying gifts can be so much fun and seeing how happy they are when opening those presents makes us feel so good. But then verse 3 says, "People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then they are angry at the Lord." Now for some that is their life. They get money and they spend it on their wants with no thought of what needs to be paid. An important lesson that we have learned is just because you have money in the bank doesn't mean you must spend it. But our enthusiasm takes over. But the problem is when it is gone and there is no money to pay th...
