James 1:9 (AMP) says, "Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position [as a born-again believer, called to the true riches and to be an heir of God];" I know, I know that doesn't make sense in this world in which we live. But James goes on. In verse 10 he continues, "and the rich man is to glory in being humbled [by trials revealing human frailty, knowing true riches are found in the grace of God], for like the flower of the grass he will pass away." Verses 9-11 in the NLT says it this way, "Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them. And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them.
