Proverbs 16 kind of puts us in our place. Verse 5 says, "The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished." The MESSAGE says, "God can't stomach arrogance or pretense; believe me, he'll put those upstarts in their place." Look back at verse 4, "God made everything with a place and a purpose; even the wicked are included - for for judgement ." God knows what He is doing. The writer of Proverbs also says in verse 9 (NLT), "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." Now it is important for us to have plans, "but the Lord determines our steps."
