Today's Beginning

Friday... You can really depend on them. You really can.  I love mountains. They are so stable and they are so dependable. Every morning when I wake up, I can trust that they will be there. I know they will be.   The writer of Psalm 125 (MSG) says, "Those who trust in God are like Zion Mountain: Nothing can move it, a rock solid mountain you can always depend on. Mountains encircle Jerusalem, and God encircles his people - always has and always will."  You may not have a mountain that you wake up to or mountains that encircle where you live, but no matter where you live God is there. He is, yes He is. Every once in awhile we get winds that blow with all their might, it seems like they are going to blow everything down. Now there are some trees that can't handle it but the mountains are not affected by the wind. They are still there.  Whenever you are going through some very difficult winds in your life and it seems like everything is falling apart just stop and ...

Saturday... It needs to be reinforced in our minds. We need to really understand. Deuteronomy 7:9 (NLT), "Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands." May we please, please understand this. And then Psalm 125:1-2, "Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever." Oh let's strive to really understand. He is indeed God. He is faithful and He lavishies His unfailing love on those who love Him and obey Him. If we trust Him we will be secure, we will not be defeated and we will endure forever. And He surrounds His people, both now and forever. And we can pray, verse 4, "O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you....
