Today's Beginning

Friday... We each one are so different. We each one live our lives with different emotions. Some minimize and other maximize. Some get up each day calm and others wake up overwhelmed. And God loves and understands each one of us. He created each one of us to be unique. And King David, the writer of many of the Psalms is so honest about who he is. In his writing Psalm 142 he is in real danger. He is hiding in a cave because his enemy, King Saul is out looking for him and wanting to kill him. And I think any of us would be maximizers in that kind of situation, wouldn't we?  He says in verses 1-2 (NLT), "I cry out to the Lord; I plead for the Lord's mercy. I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles." And that is such a good thing to do. In those times it is so good to really be honest about our situation and our need of God.  Let me ask you. Wednesday... The word overwhelmed says so much. It really does. David the writer of Psalm 142 was trapped in a cave with no way out. King Saul was outside looking for him so he could kill him. To David that was what it meant to be overwhelmed. He was trapped with no way out. He just needed to wait and see if those looking for him would leave but of course he knew they could come in the cave and find him. Now what is overwhelming you may not be that but I'm sure you are feeling trapped. In verse 4 (NLT) he writes, "I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me." That is what you feel when you are overwhelmed, isn't it? He is letting us know what he feels when he is alone and overwhelmed but that isn't all that he says.  In verses 1-2 David writes, "I cry out to the Lord; I plead for the Lord's mercy. I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles....

Friday... I'm overwhelmed, so what do I do? Good question! David was in a cave with someone outside wanting to kill him and in this cave he wrote Psalm 142 (NLT) and this is what he did, "I cry out to the Lord;" And that is a great place to start. "I plead for the Lord's mercy." I need help. I don't feel I deserve it but I need your mercy. Verse 2, "I pour out my complaints before him"  He allows me to do that. I unload them on Him. "and tell Him all my troubles." And He wants me to do that. He wants to take care of those trouble. So David cried out, he pleaded, he poured out, and He told Him. He just let it all out. What if we did that? Maybe that is what you need to do? Is it? He let David do it so I'm sure He wants you to do it. Now here is reality. Verse 3 says, When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn." Are you overwhelmed? Are you in an emotional cave hiding out? Do you feel all alone?  In verse 4, Da...
