Thursday... We can get into that spot very quickly. Yes we can. A word can be spoken, an action happens and we are headed on the slide down to self pity or as I call it a dark spot. David, the writer of many of the Psalms had that potential. In Psalm 39 he goes through a lot of different things that seem to bring him down into despair and self pity until finally in verse 13b (NIRV) he says, "Let me enjoy life again before I die." Now self pity says that one way but deep desperation says it another way. You really mean it. Now I love the honesty of the Psalms. God wants us to be honest in what we are feeling. But Satan wants us to stay there in our self pity. But Proverbs 9:6 (NLT) says, "Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live; learn to use good judgment." But there is more.
