Proverbs 2:1-5 (NIV) has three if statements leading up to one then. It says, "My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding - indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." If you accept, store up, turn your ear, apply, call, cry aloud, look for it and search for it, then you will understand and find the Knowledge of God. Somehow we have gotten this idea that if we have a Bible in our house, go to church every once in a while and pray when we are in trouble then we will get what God wants to give...
