Today's Beginning

Saturday... So, let's just hang on to them. Proverbs 3:21 (MSG) says, "Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life, don't for aa minute lose sight of them." Now we seek to guard our money and our family but Common Sense and Clear thinking are so important that we need to guard them with our life. And we need a lot of Clear Thinking and Common Sense in this day that we are living in, don't we?  The NLT says, "My child, don't lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them. Whatever you are facing today don't just grasp hold of the first and the loudest thought that comes into you mind. Just stop and think clearly with some real common sense. He goes on, verses 22-26 (MSG) says, "They'll keep your soul alive and well, they'll keep you fit and attractive." And we want that. We work so hard at that. Friday... Something to put on that makes such a difference. What do you put on your Christmas tree? Do you find a place in your living room, put your tree on a stand and that is it? No, you put lights on it but that isn't enough. You put ornaments on your tree that make all the difference. They add so much. Over in Proverbs 3:21-22 (NIV) it says, "My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life to you, an ornament to grace your neck." The MESSAGE puts it this way, "Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don't for a minute lose sight of them. They'll keep your soul alive and well, they'll keep you fit and attractive." Those ornaments on your tree make such a difference just as clear thinking, common sense, wisdom,  understanding, sound judgement and discretion keep you fit and attractive. Wednesday... What would happen if we did this? Too many times we let our desires and emotions control our life, control our decisions. But Proverbs 3:21 (MSG) says, "Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don't for a minute lose sight of them." Now that makes sense, doesn't it? especially when we spend time in God's Word and we stop and think before making a decision. When our emotions take over they take us down paths that we don't really want to go, we shouldn't go. The writer of Proverbs goes on, verses 22-26 says, "They'll keep your soul alive and well, they'll keep you fit and attractive." But I really want that donut. "You'll travel safely, you'll never tire nor trip. You'll take afternoon naps without a worry, you'll enjoy a good night's sleep.
