Today's Beginning

Psalm 117:2 (NLT) says, "For his unfailing love is powerful; the Lord's faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord."  Friday... Over and over they writ e. I have read the Psalms for nearly 50 years and these two descriptions are written about our Lord, our God over and over. Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the Psalms and even in the whole Bible and these two descriptions are highlighted here in this chapter. It must mean that God wants us to be reinforced in these two characteristics, these descriptions, these facts about him. And we are to praise the Lord. They are so important. They are unfailing love and faithfulness. Now they really do go together, unfailing love and faithfulness go together. If I really love my spouse then I will be faithful. God has shown us by living out those facts. Now the description is that unfailing love is powerful. Everything that happens to those who follow him must go through that unfailing love and it is so powerful that no matter...

Saturday... Small can still have great power. Here is what Psalm 117 (NLT), the smallest chapter in the Bible says. It gets to the point. "Praise him, all you people of the earth. For his unfailing love for us is powerful; the Lord's faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord." Now if that is all I have ever read about the Lord, I would still really be interested.  His unfailing love is powerful. I mean, love is powerful. When I know that I am loved then I can take anyone on. And it is unfailing. It will never fail. It will always be there no matter what I do or others around me do.  The Amplified Bible says, "For His lovingkindness prevails over us [and we triumph and overcome through Him]" Now that is really important to know. Hold on to that. He loves you and He always will and if we really believe that and reach out and grab onto that love then we can triumph and overcome whatever it is that we are going through. Wednesday... Short and right to the point. Psalm 117 (NLT) is the shortest Psalm and it gets right to the point. The writer writes, "Praise the Lord, all your nations; extol him all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord." Sometimes we don't need a lot of words. We just need to get to the point.  Yes, His love is great to us and yes, His faithfulness endures forever. Right to the point and we should praise Him. And more importantly, we want to praise Him. How did His love toward you reveal itself yesterday? How has He been faithful to you this week? The MESSAGE paraphrase puts it this way, "Praise God, everybody! Applaud God, all people! His love has taken over our lives; God's faithful ways are eternal. Hallelujah!" Short and right to the point. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
