Today's Beginning

Psalm 84:11 (NIRV), "The LORD God is like the sun that give us light. He is like a shield that keeps us safe. The Lord blesses us with favor and honor. He doesn't hold back anything good from those whose lives are without blame." Monday... Yes, it can be normal and great. We live in the Mojave Desert. This past week we have had clouds and rain coming off the coast of the Pacific Ocean in California. Our normal though is sun and we have it today. It is great. There are no clouds in the sky. Now Psalm 84:11 (NIRV) says, "The LORD God is like the sun that give us light. He is like a shield that keeps us safe. Saturday... It begins with trust! Have you ever thought about what could be in those presents under the tree? I know you have. The truth is you are excited about what is in those wrapped up packages. You know it's going to be good because you trust the one who is giving you those gifts. And Psalm 84:12 (NLT) is so true, "O Lord of Heaven's Armies, what joy for those who trust in you." It begins with trust. It doesn't say fear it says "What joy for those who trust in you." Do remember when you stopped believing in Santa Claus? It was really fun for awhile but one day you woke up and said, "I don't believe anymore", and some have grown up and they have quit believing in God and that is too bad. God isn't Santa Claus. He is real. Verse 11 says, "For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing for those who do what is right." Thursday... What is He really like? Have you ever had to read a person's resume and you wondered if they are really like that? I mean they sound wonderful. And you might ask the same about God. Is He really like that? Psalm 84:11 (NIRV) says, "The Lord God is like the sun that gives us light." And the sun is so unbelievable in all our descriptions. I mean, it gives us light, it gives us warmth, all the solar system revolves around the sun. And it is a great picture of what God is like. And then, "He is like a shield that keeps us safe." Do you ever watch one of those police shows and whenever they are headed into danger they put on their chest protectors. They put them on to protect themselves when shots are fired at them. God is like that but in a greater way. And then it says, "The Lord blesses us with favor and honor." The NLT says, "He gives us grace and glory." He looks down on us and sees everything about us and everything we have done ...

Saturday... Oh that everyone would know this to be true. Psalm 84:12 (NIRV), "Lord who rules over all, blessed is the person who trusts in you." That is so true. Over in John 10:10 (NIRV) Jesus said, "I have come so they may have life. I want them to have it in the fullest possible way." Oh, how I wish you really knew that! God will bless everyone who trusts in Him and He sent Jesus to give us life in the fullest possible way. Now I can say that and I can personally know it to be true but you must put your trust in Him to really experience it. But you can. Oh I wish you really knew that to be true.
