Today's Beginning

Psalm 5:3 (NLT) "Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." Thursday... Yes, just keep at it. So what is our problem today? We wake us each morning with different situations facing us and many of them are bigger than we can handle so having a plan is such a smart thing to have. I'm sure there are some mornings you just don't want to get up, so you need a plan. Well King David had one. Psalm 5:3 (NLT) says, "Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." Yes, yes, that is such a great plan. Now he starts this Psalm by saying, "O LORD, hear me as I pray." Now God won't hear you if you don't pray. Oh He has the ability to read our thoughts but that is not where the power comes in. David goes on, "pay attention to my groaning." Verse 2, "Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you....

Wednesday... Ok, ok it's morning. So how does that work for you? Is it hard for you to get up? I won't start this by saying that I love getting up in the morning. Well I did, I did say it so I hope you don't stop reading. But because I am counting each day that I have ahead of me then I don't want to waste too much time in bed. I do strive to be healthy and get my eight hours but then I'm up and at it. Now David says in Psalm 5:1 (NLT), "O Lord, hear me as I pray. pay attention to my groaning." And what we are going through can cause us to not want to get up and face a new day. All of that groaning can get to us, can't it? But connecting with God and asking him to pay attention to what we are going through makes such a difference in our day. Yes he wants us to bring our groanings to him and the morning is a great time to do that. David goes on. Verse 2 says, "Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you." Wednesday... I wait expectantly. There are so many different ways to wait.  David in Psalm 5:1-3 (NLT) says, "O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." Now that is the way to wait. Your expectation is great because of the One you are praying to. He is great, He is mighty, He is extraordinarily capable. He can do way more than what we can picture. That is where the expectancy comes in. I'm expecting it to be extraordinary. And that comes from my relationship with Him. He has done so much before and He can do even more.  Now disappointment is also a view of expectancy. Some would say, I know I am going to be disappointed. So many people live at that level to the point that they just don't even try. That's there expectation. They live that way. But that wasn't David. He ...

Thursday... This can be so difficult to do. Psalm 5:3 (NLT) says, "Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." There it is, the word wait. Waiting is so hard to do, isn't it? But also bringing your requests to someone and then waiting. I mean, humbling ourselves to the point that we need help is tough but when we do we don't want to wait but then there is another word. We wait expectantly.  And that is a great way to start our day. It really is. "Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." Verses 2 & 3 in the NIRV says, "My King and my God, hear me when I cry for help. I pray to you. Lord in the morning you hear my voice. In the morning I pray to you. I wait for you in hope." So what are you facing today? Are you facing it alone. Monday... And I watch. It is one thing to pray and then to watch. Psalm 5:1 & 2 (NRSV) says, "Give ear to my words, O Lord; give heed to my sighing. Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray." And that is such a good thing to do. You release so much when you do that and it makes you feel good. But there is more. Verse 3 says, "O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;" and that is such a good thing, but then it says, "in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch." And that is where the anticipation, the faith comes in. And I watch. Do you just pray and feel the emotional lift when you do or do you also watch?  The NLT says, "Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." It is one thing to pray and another to wait expectantly for the answer. Now that is where the real power comes in, doesn't it?
