Monday... So, who is it we really are reminding?

Psalm 74:12 (NLT), "You, O God, are my king from ages past, bringing salvation to the earth."

Now Asaph in writing Psalm 74 seems to be reminding God. But is that really the one he needs to be reminding?

In our situations in our lives where things are not going the way we want we use whatever methods we can to have hope. Maybe that is where a lot of us are today and we need some reminders and that is why I spend time in the Bible every morning. I need to be reminded and reinforced in my faith.

Now Asaph starts this Psalm out by saying in verse 1a (NLT), "O God, why have you rejected us so long?" Could that be a question that a lot of us have at the beginning of this day?

I love the honesty of the Bible. Maybe some of you are saying that and this is a great place to come.

Here is a reminder. Verse 12 says, "You, O God, are my king from ages past, bringing salvation to the earth."

Verses 16-17 says, "Both day and night belong to you; you made the starlight and the sun. You set boundaries of the earth, and you made both summer and winter."

And verses 20-21, "Remember your covenant promises, for the land is full of darkness and violence! Don't let the downtrodden be humiliating again. Instead, let the poor and needy praise your name." It's not God who needs to be reminded, it is us

Listen, God hasn't forgotten. It isn't God who needs to remember, to be reminded. It is us. Again verse 12 say, "You, O God, are my king from ages past, bringing salvation to the earth."

No it isn't God who needs to be reminded, it is us. "You, O God, are my king from ages past, bringing salvation to the earth." What he has done in the past He will do again. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Thursday... Maybe we need this word today.

Psalm 57:1b (NIRV), "There I will stay until the danger is gone." Thursday... Maybe we need this word today. There are words in life that give us confidence no matter what we are facing. Now we have to believe them in order for them to have an impact. David wrote Psalm 57 while he was in a cave hiding from Saul who wanted to kill him and he says in the last part of verse 1, "There I will stay." It was a safe place and Saul didn't know that he was there. But he doesn't stop there. With confidence he said, "There I will stay until." And until is definitely a word of faith and confidence. "There I will stay until the danger is gone." Do we need that today? Let me give you the whole verse. In verse 1 David says, "Have mercy on me, God. Have mercy on me." And that is a great place to start in times of trouble. Maybe that is what we need to pray today, "Have mercy on me, God. Have mercy on me." It is so great to have someone...

Tuesday... We just have trouble listening.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." Tuesday... We just have trouble listening. Over in Jeremiah 25:4 (NLT) it says, "Again and again the LORD has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention." And Jeremiah went on to tell what was going to happen. There will be consequences if we do not listen to what God says through his Word. Now the Apostle Paul over in 1 Corinthians was having a problem with some professed Christ followers who were having trouble at listening. And we too can have problems at listening. We can think that being a Christ follower means we do a lot of finger pointing and we give up on people who don't do what we say. We can even do that in our families. But Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." In verse ...

Thursday... Yet, now this is true.

Colossians 1:22a (NLT), "Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body." Thursday... Yet, now this is true. Now Paul a prisoner in Rome is writing a letter to a church in Colossae. And in Colossians 1:21 (MSG) he says, "Once you were alienated from God and were hostile in your minds, engaging in evil deeds" The NLT says "This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated by your evil thoughts and actions." And that is where so many in this world live today. They are blowing it and they don't know what to do. Yes, they are hostile in their minds and they are engaging in evil deeds but there is Good News. Now Paul in verses 19-20 sets the stage for an answer to those who don't want to live that way. He says, "For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and earth b...
