Proverbs 14:3 (NLT), "Those who follow the right path fear the LORD; those who take the wrong path despise him."
Tuesday... There is a way that seems right.
Yes we feel we are so smart and we believe we know what the right way looks like.
Proverbs 14:12 (AMP) says, "There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but it's end is the way of death."
Yes, we feel we are so smart and we know what the right way is, don't we?
Now verse 3 (NLT) also says, "Those who follow the right path fear the LORD; those who take the wrong path despise him." So we need to make sure which is the right path. We need to do what God says.
Now over in the book of Acts, Paul was put on a ship as a prisoner to go to Rome. Yes, as we read here in the book of Acts in the Bible it was God's plan for him to go to Rome but there were difficulties.
With difficulties we too many times think that this must not be the right path but as we read, God many times uses difficulties to get us on the right path.
Acts 14:7 says, "We had several days of slow sailing, and after great difficulty we finally neared Cnidus. But the wind was against us."
When we put our trust in God there may be difficulties and God uses them to get us where he wants us to go. He even uses contrary winds. Yes, so many times the right path has great difficulty that is there to get us where God wants us to go. So in our times of difficulty make sure it is not God moving us into the right path, the right direction. That is what God was doing with this wind in Paul's trip to Rome.
Yes, God uses other ways to get us on the right path but again we think our way is best.
Now here on this trip Paul gave the sailors of this ship a warning, some advice. Verse 11 (NIRV) says, "But the commander didn't listen to what Paul said. Instead he followed the advice of the pilot and ship's owners." And of course we think they should know what is best, shouldn't they? Verse 21 says (MSG), "After the men had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up among them and said, 'Men, you should have followed my advice not to sail to Crete. Then you would have averted this disaster and loss. But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because you will not experience any loss of life, but only the ship.'" What if they would have listened to Paul? You see, the contrary wind was blowing them to a safe place.
We need to remember, "There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but it's end is the way of death." And, "Those who follow the right path fear the LORD; those who take the wrong path despise him."
Yes, the wind was blowing them to a safe place but that wasn't where they wanted to go so they didn't listen to Paul. So let's listen to what God says. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
