Psalm 7:9 (NIV), "Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure - you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts."
Tuesday... Being honest is so important.
David writes in Psalm 7:9 (NIV), "Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure - you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts."
Now God is a righteous God and he probes our minds and heart. Yes, we need to realize that fact and be honest with ourselves and with God.
In verse 1, David writes, "LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me." Now he goes on to say in verse 3, "LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands" and verse 5, "then let my enemies pursue and overtake me; let them trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust." The NLT says, "Let them trample me into the ground and drag my honor in the dust."
Yes being honest with ourselves and with God is so important, it makes such a difference in our life.
In verse 10 David says, "God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right." And right before this in 9b he writes, "For you look deep within the mind and heart." And in the (NIV), "you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts." Yes, we better be honest. God knows all about us.
Verse 14 (NLT) says, "The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies." In no way can they be trusted. He goes on in verse 15, "They dig a deep pit to trap others, then fall into it themselves." And verse 16 is so important for us to realize. "The trouble they make for others backfires on them. The violence they plan falls on their own heads." Yes, God is honest about the consequences and we need to be too with ourselves.
And then verse 17, "I will thank the LORD because he is just; I will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High." Yes, we need to be thankful for God's honesty and know that he will take care of our being dishonest if we give ourselves over to Him. Yes, let's be honest that we really do need Him. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
