Ecclesiastes 8:1 (NLT), "How wonderful to be wise, to analyze and interpret things. Wisdom lights up a person's face, softening harshness."
Wednesday... It is one of the great gifts from God.
It really is!
Solomon who was one of the wisest men ever says in Ecclesiastes 8:1 (NLT), "How wonderful to be wise, to analyze and interpret things. Wisdom lights up a person's face, softening harshness."
Now being smart is also a good thing but wisdom goes beyond smart. Yes, it is fun to get A's on our tests but it is so great to be able to analyze and interpret things. To have that person and even yourself say, "Now that makes sense." and to see your's and their face light up because you have the answer to whatever you and they are facing.
Verses 5-6 says, "Those who obey him will not be punished. Those who are wise will find a time and a way to do what is right, for there is a time and a way for everything, even when a person is in trouble." And that is so good, "even when a person is in trouble".
Now verse 15 really makes sense. It says, "So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun."
God has created each of us with a purpose. Work is a part of His plan. He didn't create us just for leisure. Yes, there is hard work for us to do but there is also fun. Solomon recommends it. He knows that we need to experience some happiness along with the hard work which God gives us to do. That really makes sense and that is really wise.
Back to verse 1, the New International Reader's Version says it this way, "Who is like a wise person? Who knows how to explain things? A person's wisdom makes their face bright. It softens the look on there face." Yes, yes!
So where do you get it? James, the brother of Jesus in chapter 1 of his book in verses 5-7 says, "If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do."
But let me tell you. It is one of the great gifts from God. It really is! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
