Psalm 31:1 (AMP), "In You, O LORD, I have placed my trust and taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed; In Your righteousness rescue me."
We are living in a difficult time.
It seems that the way of a Christ-follower may not be a popular way especially in some circles.
Now, David also saw the potential in his day. In Psalm 31:1 (AMP) he says, "In You, O LORD, I have placed my trust and taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed; In Your righteousness rescue me." Yes, he implies that if he puts his trust in God then there is a potential to be ashamed and he asks God, "Let me never be ashamed."
You would think that if we put our trust in God and all that comes from that we wouldn't have problems with being ashamed but in verse 4 (NLT) he asks God to "Pull me from the trap my enemies set for me." And that is so true today. Yes, there are so many traps out there but David continues in this verse to say something that we really, really need to remember, to realize, to live with confidence, "for I find protection in you alone."
There are so many traps out there, but keep the fact that God is our protection at the forefront of your mind and in your heart. Yes, He is.
Now in verses 6 (AMP) he says, "I hate those who pay regard to vain (empty, worthless) idols; But I trust in the LORD [and rely on Him with unwavering confidence]."
You see, we need to understand that when they strive to trap us by putting us down, striving to wreck our confidence then they believe they have won. But they have been sold a bill of goods. I mean, the idols they worship are so worthless. They worship so many things that are so meaningless. They are the ones who have been trapped and who should be ashamed.
Yes, "rely on Him with unwavering confidence."
He goes on. Verses 7-8 (NLT) says, "I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you take care of the anguish of my soul. You have not handed me over to my enemies but have set me in a safe place."
And what do those vain, empty, worthless idols do? They strive to rob us of our unwavering confidence. So what counteracts that happening? "I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you take care of the anguish of my soul." And "You have not handed me over to my enemies but have set me in a safe place."
And then David writes in verse 19, "How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish them in your presence, blessing them before a watching world."
So he says in verse 23-24, "Love the LORD, all you godly ones! For the LORD protects those who are loyal to him, but he harshly punishes the arrogant. So be strong and courageous, all you who put their hope in the LORD!" Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
