Psalm 33:18 (AMP), "Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those who fear Him [and worship Him with awe-inspiring reverence and obedience], on those who hope [confidently] in His compassion and lovingkindness."
Tuesday... We can hope with confidence.
Now hope is more than wishing. Wishing says, "That would be nice." Hope says, "I believe this can happen."
I can say, "I hope the Dodgers win their 3rd World Series Championship in a row." If you don't know, the Dodgers are a Major League baseball team out of Los Angeles, California. I have been a Dodger's fan for almost 70 years. Now my hope is more on the wishing side, "That would be nice.". So I do wish, I do want.In my reading today I came across Psalm 33:18 (AMP) which says, "Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those who fear Him [and worship Him with awe-inspiring reverence and obedience], on those who hope [confidently] in His compassion and lovingkindness."
Hope and confidence don't always go together, do they? It depends upon who we put our hope on and what we hope for.
Now we hope that we can sell our house. It would be it seems from our view advantageous at this time in our life to do it. At least that is what we think. Now as we look at what is happening around us it probably is more a desire than a confident hope.
Back to Psalm 33:18 (AMP), "Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon those who fear Him [and worship Him with awe-inspiring reverence and obedience], on those who hope [confidently] in His compassion and lovingkindness."
So, what can we hope confidently if we do what we must do? Well, our confident hope is in His compassion and lovingkindness and in the fact that His eye is on us. I can be confident in that. That is a fact if I "fear Him [and worship Him with awe-inspiring reverence and obedience]. Yes, then I can hope with confidence "in His compassion and lovingkindness." And that hope makes so much difference in our lives. It really does.
Verses 20-21 (NLT) says, "We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name." And we can pray verse 22, "Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is on you alone." And that hope makes all the difference in our lives and we can be confident in that hope.
Yes we can hope with confidence that His unfailing love will surround us if we fear Him and worship Him with awe-inspiring reverence and obedience. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
