Psalm 54:7 (NLT), "For you have rescued me from my troubles and helped me to triumph over my enemies."
Tuesday... There really is a difference!
There really is. King David the writer of many of the 150 Psalms knew this to be true and I have been reading them daily for over 40 years.
He wrote this Psalm, Psalm 54 while he was hiding from King Saul who wanted to kill him. He had been in trouble it seemed all of his life and he finishes this Psalm in verse 7 by saying, "For you have rescued me from my troubles and helped me to triumph over my enemies."
So many can't say that. They face their troubles alone.
David starts this Psalm by saying in verses 1-2, "Come with great power, O God, and rescue me! Defend me with your might. Listen to my prayer, O God. Pay attention to my plea." I have prayed that prayer in my life so many times and it has really made such a difference.
Now the verse that caught my attention this morning was in Proverbs 24. A big portion of the Proverbs was written by David's son, Solomon. Verse 3 (AMP) says, "Through [skillful and godly] wisdom a house [a life, a home, a family] is built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation." Now wisdom comes from God.
Proverbs 1:7 says, "The [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence." I love where it says, "worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome." Yes, regarding Him as truly awesome makes such a difference and He can be that for us.
So, do you have someone that you can go to that you regard as truly awesome? It makes all the difference in our lives and in facing the troubles in our lives.
Proverbs 24:5 says, "A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge strengthens his power." Verse 5 in the New Living Translation says, "The wise are mightier than the strong and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger." Verse 3 in the NLT says, "A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense."
Verse 10 says, "If you fail under pressure your strength is too small." And the Amplified Bible says, "If you are slack (careless) in the days of distress, your strength is limited." And we wonder why we can't handle the troubles in our life.
Back to Psalm 54:1 (NIRV), "God save me by your power. Set me free by your might. God, hear my prayer. Listen to what I am saying." And then verse 4, "But I know that God helps me. The Lord is the one who keeps me going." And verse 7, "You have saved me from all my troubles. With my own eyes I have seen you win the battle over my enemies."
Yes, He really is the difference. God is truly awesome. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
