Proverbs 9:8 (AMP), "Do not correct a scoffer [who foolishly ridicules and takes no responsibility for his error] or he will hate you; Correct a wise man [who learns from his error], and he will love you."
Monday... We want to make a difference in everyone.
But...
Now I know Jesus wanted to make a difference in everyone but each one of us has a choice.
Over in Matthew 23:37 (NIV) Jesus says, "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing." And Jesus did not give up.
Solomon writes in Proverbs 9:8 (AMP), "Do not correct a scoffer [who foolishly ridicules and takes no responsibility for his error] or he will hate you; Correct a wise man [who learns from his error], and he will love you."
Yes, that is the wise thing to do but what if the scoffer is someone we love. We want to make a difference in everyone, especially those we love.
Solomon goes on and says in verse 9 (NLT), "Instruct the wise, and they will be wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more."
That is so very important. Verses 10-12 (NIRV) says, "If you want to become wise, you must begin by respecting the LORD. To know the Holy One is to gain understanding. Through wisdom, you will live a long time. Years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you. If you make fun of others, you alone will suffer."
Yes, we want to make a difference in everyone but each of us are free moral agents and we can not be forced to do what we don't want to do. God won't even do it but we must keep at it just as He did with sending Jesus to earth and who eventually gave His life for us and then was resurrected.
Yes, yes, we must keep at it. The reward is so worth it.
Verses 7-9 (NIRV) says, "When you correct someone who makes fun of others, you might be laughed at. When you warn a sinner, you might get hurt. Don't warn those who make fun of others, or they will hate you. Warn those who are wise, and they will love you. Teach a wise person, and they will become even wiser. Teach a person who does right, and they will learn even more."
Yes, we want to make a difference in everyone. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
