Matthew 22:29 (NLT), "Jesus replied, 'Your mistake is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God.'"
Friday... There is power in knowing!
Even up to the end of Jesus' life he was having trouble with the religious leaders. They were always trying to trick Jesus. But they couldn't trap him. In this particular situation in Matthew 22 in verse 29 (NLT) it says, "Jesus replied, 'Your mistake is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God.'"
Now these religious leaders should have known. They had access to all the Scriptures at that time but they were coming from a wrong perspective. They were using it to lift themselves up and put others down. They used the Scripture for control. But Jesus knew all the Scriptures. It was all preparing for his coming to earth. As someone said, the Old Testament was His story.
Yes Jesus got them. And after another time of trying to trick Jesus verse 46 says "No one could answer him. And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions." Yes, as Jesus said, "Your mistake is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God." They maybe thought they did but they really didn't.
What are you facing today? Have you spent time in God's word? Have you given your life to him, do you believe in him and have you found the power of God? You see, there is power in knowing and believing.
Look at this. I read this, this morning. Psalm 36:5-7 says, "Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings."
Did you know that?
Look at this. Here is some practical knowledge. Proverbs 6:6-10 says, "Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? A little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest - then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber."
There is so much to know in the Scriptures. Again, "Jesus replied, 'Your mistake is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God.'" Yes, there is power in knowing and without a doubt, believing.
I found something from the three different chapters I read this morning. Again, there is power in knowing. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
