Psalm 9;1-2 (NLT), "I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O most High."
Monday... This is why I read a Psalm everyday.
I had one of those weekends. It was my fault and as I was up and getting ready for a new day I was having some ramifications inside of me in my emotions from the weekend. I was a little down, but then I read this in Psalm 9:1-2 (NLT), "I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O most High."And that turned my emotions around. And maybe that will be true of you. You may need a word from God directly to your situation, to your attitude.
It starts out by saying, "I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart." Not just part but all. The Amplified Bible says, "I will give thanks and praise the LORD, with all my heart,"
Think back on yesterday, past the negative to something good that you know God put there and thank Him. Yes, thank and praise Him. Thank Him for what He has done and praise Him that He is bigger than any mess up that you did.
Yes, "I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done." Who do we tell? Well first of all we tell ourselves. We need to get the focus off of us and our imperfections and on to Him. Just giving us the opportunity of a new day even with our mess up is great. Oh we may need to ask Him for forgiveness but he will forgive us and we then can head into the day as if we didn't blow it.
And them, "I will be filled with joy but because of you, God." Not because of us but because of God and then I will "exult in you", God" and I" will again sing praises to Your name, O Most High."
Also remember this. Verses 7-8 (NLT) says, "But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne. He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness." Yes, he wants us to deal with our mess ups. There may be some asking for forgiveness in there. But also know that God does rule with justice but also know that he is fair.
And then verses 9-10, "The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you." And we must believe that.
Yes, we may be perfectionists and we have problems with our mess ups but God will not abandon us if we search for him.
So, I was tempted to not write this blog this morning but God knew what I needed. Yes, I love the honesty of the Psalms. God knows what we need. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
