Proverbs 29:18 MSG), "If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed."
Monday... Stumbling gets in the way of being blessed.
Now God gives each one of us opportunities that bring blessings. Proverbs 29:18 MSG) says, "If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed."
Real easy to stumble.
Earlier in this chapter in verse 13 (NIV) it says, "The poor and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives sight to the eyes of both." God has made it so that we don't need to stumble and he will bless us.
At my age I do have greater potential at stumbling but I just need to be more careful. Now in our spiritual lives we all need to attend to what God reveals and if we do he will bless us.
Now I also read this morning in the NT book of Ephesians about something that does cause us to stumble. Ephesians 4:25-27 (NLT) says, "So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all apart of the same body." That is a problem. But Paul the writer goes on, "And 'don't sin by letting anger control you.' Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil." And that is why forgiveness is so important.
Anger will cause us to stumble in our relationship with God and definitely with others. It also gives the devil an upper hand so the sooner we take care of it the better chance of taking care of our potential stumbling. Yes, anger toward someone gives the devil a foothold in our lives and it robs us of God's blessing.
I have seen so many families broken apart because of anger. If only they would have taken care of the problem especially when it first happened. But because they didn't then God's blessing is not on that family. And understand that anger between parents can cause anger in the children's lives and the devil then has a foothold in their lives. So to keep us from stumbling we need to at some point forgive to get God's blessing.
Please understand, stumbling can get in the way of being blessed but when we attend to what he reveals, we then will be blessed. Verse 18 in the New Living Translation says, "When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful." And being joyful is truly a blessing. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
