Psalm 46:1 (AMP), "God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable], a very present and well-proven help in trouble."
Friday... Have you found Him to be a well-proved help in trouble?
I have many times.
The writer of Psalms 46 in verse 1 (AMP) says, ""God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable], a very present and well-proved help in trouble."
Now maybe you haven't remembered that He is. Maybe you were in some trouble and something happened and it was taken care of and you were relieved. Maybe you were driving and someone was driving out of control but you made it through. Yes, God is a well-proved help in trouble even when we don't realize it. Being thankful in those moments is so important because it means you realize that you were not alone.
I like how the Amplified Bible puts it, "a well-proved help in trouble." He is always there ready to help. Yes, God is mighty and impenetrable. He has been there over and over. He is well-proved.
So what does believing and acknowledging that to be true, do? Well, verses 2 & 3 (NLT) says, "So we will not fear, when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge." Now those are examples of trouble beyond our ability to take care of. So many of our troubles are our fault. And even in those he will be an very present and well-proved help. But there are some situations that are way beyond our help and we don't need to be afraid.
Fear can really slow us down. It wrecks our confidence and enjoyment of life. We are always afraid of that mountain crumbling even though we have never seen that happen. Fear can rob us of so much in life.
Verse 1 in the New Living Translation says, "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble." He is always ready, always ready. Yes he sees it all and he can take care of it all. No matter what happens we don't need to be afraid. He has it covered.
The Message says, "God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains."
No matter what trouble we are facing God has what it takes to handle it. So, have you found that to be true? Well, it is! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
