Saturday... Now this is a very good and desired thing to know and be. It really is.
Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV) says, "Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers but whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on his law day and night." Now it is a very good thing to be blessed. It really is.
The Amplified Bible says it this way, "Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night."
The New Testament in Galatians 5:16-17 (NLT) adds another aspect, another characteristic of a blessed person. It says, "So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions."
Yes in the OT you were blessed because of your daily focus on the law but we now have the added help within us of the Holy Spirit to fight those inner desires that are constantly trying to take us off of God's path to the path of sinners.
Now that is really unbelievable. We can have God's Holy Spirit within us helping us to fight the enemy of our life and who will empower and strengthen and lead us away from those desires that are the opposite of what the Holy Spirit wants.
So, "Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers) But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night." but as Galatians 5:25 who now can say, "who follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of their lives." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
