Friday... Yes, we must listen carefully.


Psalm 85:8 (NLT), "I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people."

Friday... Yes, we must listen carefully.

We really do. Now there is a whole lot of anger going on in our world even in the church. And even in the church we must be really careful.


I just finished reading the book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament. There is a whole lot of anger in that book because of the disobedience of God's chosen people. So it is imperative to read the whole story. Psalm 85:8 (NLT) says, "I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people."

Now we first of all must know where God's anger came from. But so many who are followers of God pick up on the anger part without listening carefully. Yes, we must listen carefully even when we read Jeremiah. His anger came from their disobedience.

So does he speak peace to you?

In Paul's letter to the Ephesians in 1:2 he says, "May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace." That is what we need to pray for today. "May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace." Yes, God wants to give us peace and grace.

A lot of anger comes from no grace. God over and over and over gave them grace but He then needed to be faithful to those who were faithful to him. But our anger comes too many times from having no grace.

Now look at who are in verse 2. It says, "May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." That is where the difference in the Old Testament and New Testament comes in. Ephesians was written after Jesus came to earth as a baby.

Verses 6-8 says, "So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding."

Yes, we must listen carefully. Jesus came to this earth and died and was resurrected and "So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins."

And again, we must listen carefully. "May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace." And what a difference in our world today that would make. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Tuesday... We just have trouble listening.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." Tuesday... We just have trouble listening. Over in Jeremiah 25:4 (NLT) it says, "Again and again the LORD has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention." And Jeremiah went on to tell what was going to happen. There will be consequences if we do not listen to what God says through his Word. Now the Apostle Paul over in 1 Corinthians was having a problem with some professed Christ followers who were having trouble at listening. And we too can have problems at listening. We can think that being a Christ follower means we do a lot of finger pointing and we give up on people who don't do what we say. We can even do that in our families. Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute.

Proverbs 19:2 (NLT), "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute. This time of the year is so exciting. We get our paycheck from work and then we head to the store or Amazon and buy and buy and buy all those presents and then our check is gone Proverbs 19:2 (NLT) says, "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." But buying gifts can be so much fun and seeing how happy they are when opening those presents makes us feel so good. But then verse 3 says, "People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then they are angry at the Lord." Now for some that is their life. They get money and they spend it on their wants with no thought of what needs to be paid. An important lesson that we have learned is just because you have money in the bank doesn't mean you must spend it. But our enthusiasm takes over.
