Psalm 35:3b, "Let me hear you say, "I will give you victory!"

Wednesday... Please, please!

Sometimes we need to pray prayers of desperation, don't we? Maybe that is the prayer we need to pray today so David in his Psalms is a great place in the Bible for us to go. At least, I've found that so.

David writes this prayer in Psalm 35:3b. He says, "Let me hear you say, "'I will give you victory." Do we need to pray that prayer today? Do you need to hear God say that to you today?


Now too many times our lives seem to be in other people's hands. We are striving to sell our house and a person came through the other day and didn't like it because we have a beltway right behind our house. So they walked away. Now it was great to have a person come and see it on the first day it was on the Internet but we were a little disappointed in their not choosing our house. And there are so many situations that are not under our control, and maybe that is true of you and you too want to hear God say, "I will give you victory!"

Now David was in another tight spot. In verses 1-3 he prays, "O LORD, oppose those who oppose me. Fight those who fight against me. Put on your armour, and take up your shield. Prepare for battle, and come to my aid. Lift up your spear and javelin against those who pursue me, Let me hear you say, 'I will give you victory!" Now we may not be in the same situation as David but that also may be a great prayer for us to pray and yes, God listens to prayers like that.

In verse 7 he writes, "I did them no wrong, but they laid a trap for me. I did them no wrong but they dug a pit to catch me. So let sudden ruin come upon them! Let them be caught in the trap they set for me! Let them be destroyed in the pit they dug for me."

Now the person not wanting our house had no idea about hurting us but the evil one does and too many times it seems that he is in control and that he is out to get us and that is so true. He is. He can cause disappointment in our life that really are traps to discourages us and to take our eyes off of God and he doesn't always fight fair.

But David says in verse 9, "Then I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be glad because he rescues me." Verse 10, "With every bone in my body I will praise him: 'LORD, who can compare with you? Who else rescues the helpless from the strong? Who else protects the helpless and the poor from those who rob them?'"

And verse 26, "May those who rejoice at my trouble be humiliated and disgraced. May those who triumph over me be covered with shame and dishonor." Then verse 27, "But give great joy to those who come to my defense. Let them continually say, 'Great is the LORD, who delights in blessing his servant with peace!'"

So, please, please! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Friday... Yes, we can know this to be true.

Psalm 12:6 (NLT), "The Lord's promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over." Friday... Yes, we can know this to be true. Maybe this is what you want to say in this day in which we live. Psalm 12:1-2 (MSG) says, "Quick, I need your helping hand! The last decent person just went down, all the friends I depend on gone. Everyone talks in lie language; lies slide off their oily lips. They doubletalk with forked tongues." Do you ever feel that way?" Have you found that to be true? Well David the writer of this Psalm continues and says in verse 6 something to encourage us, to lift us up, to give us hope. Psalm 12:6 (NLT) says, "The Lord's promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over." The Message Paraphrase says verses 6-8 this way, "God's words are pure words, pure silver words refined seven times in the fires of his word-kiln, pure on earth as well as in heaven, God, keep ...

Wednesday... It is amazing what we can see.

Psalm 3:3a (NLT), "But you, O LORD, are a shield around me." Wednesday... It is amazing what we can see. And what we see does make such a difference in our day. Now David, he writer of Psalm 3 starts this Psalm this way. He says in verse 1 (NLT), "O Lord, I have so many enemies; so many are against me." Yes, he is saying this to the LORD, the one he serves. Verse 2 says, "So many are saying, 'God will never rescue him!'" And that is so true with that outlook. So many of us get out of bed with that outlook every morning. It is amazing what we can see. Now I woke up this morning and eventually found myself outside on my couch with my Bible and I read this outlook in verses 1-2 from David. But I didn't stop there and neither did David. But that is an easy place to stop, isn't it? And it is true. Yes, David didn't stop there. Verses 3-4 says, "But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
