Romans 12:12 (AMP), "constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength]."

Friday... Yes, let's keep at it and see what happens.

What a tremendous chapter Paul writes while in prison in Rome. Romans 12 is so filled with encouragement and direction. Here in verse 12 (AMP) he says, "constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength."



Yes, Paul was living in a house but he had a Roman guard with him all the time making sure he wouldn't leave Rome. He had court dates on his calendar but in the middle of all he was going through he writes in verse 12 encouragement in what we need to do in our lives. He says what he was doing, He was "constantly rejoicing in hope." No matter what he was going through he constantly had hope and he kept at it.

Now it wasn't a self worked up hope. No, he was constantly rejoicing in hope because of his confidence in Christ. And he knew Christ personally. He was in his life. And that is so great for us to do and to have.

Let me ask us, where do we get our hope? And, where is so important and so is when. He says, "constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ]." Yes, our constantly rejoicing in hope comes from my confidence. Not in our self but in Christ.

Paul goes on, because of that confident hope in Christ then we can be "steadfast and patient in distress" and there is a lot of that going around, isn't there? I know the TV and the Internet are no help but because of our constant rejoicing in hope which comes from our confidence in Christ then we can be "steadfast and patient in our distress." and it's also because we are devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength." Yes, we need to keep continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength through prayer.

Just one verse given by God to a prisoner in Rome can make such a difference in our daily life if we keep at what it says.

The New Living Translation says verse 12 this way, "Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying." That is so good. It really is.

There is so much more in this chapter but let's also keep at our focus on this truth in verse 12, "Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying." Yes, let's keep on. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Tuesday... We just have trouble listening.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." Tuesday... We just have trouble listening. Over in Jeremiah 25:4 (NLT) it says, "Again and again the LORD has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention." And Jeremiah went on to tell what was going to happen. There will be consequences if we do not listen to what God says through his Word. Now the Apostle Paul over in 1 Corinthians was having a problem with some professed Christ followers who were having trouble at listening. And we too can have problems at listening. We can think that being a Christ follower means we do a lot of finger pointing and we give up on people who don't do what we say. We can even do that in our families. Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute.

Proverbs 19:2 (NLT), "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute. This time of the year is so exciting. We get our paycheck from work and then we head to the store or Amazon and buy and buy and buy all those presents and then our check is gone Proverbs 19:2 (NLT) says, "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." But buying gifts can be so much fun and seeing how happy they are when opening those presents makes us feel so good. But then verse 3 says, "People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then they are angry at the Lord." Now for some that is their life. They get money and they spend it on their wants with no thought of what needs to be paid.
