Isaiah 40:31 (NLT), "But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagle. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
Wednesday... So, how are you doing today?
Now Isaiah gives some real encouragement to me as an old-timer. In Isaiah 40:30 (NLT) he writes, "Even youth will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion." Now I have forgotten what it was like to be a youth. That was a long time ago but Isaiah reminds us that they too have problems with becoming weak and tired. And, yes our LORD cares about each one of us no matter our age. He cares about you and me and he really does understand what we are going through.
Verse 28 says, "Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary, no one can measure the depths of his understanding." He really does understand.
Now verse 31 is one of my life verses. Here is what it says, "But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." Yes he will no matter our age.
Now the Amplified Bible translated verse 31 this way. It says, "But those who wait for the LORD [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power." Is that what you need today? Keep reading, "They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, they will walk and not grow tired." And he is not just talking to youth but also this old-timer and you. I love it, and I need it.
There are two pictures from scripture that have real meaning to me. One is mountains. Psalm 121:1 (MSG) says, "I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from GOD, who made heaven and earth, and mountains." Just as mountains are greater than me and my problems, God made those mountains.
And the other is eagles. In certain times in ministry I had all through my office pictures of eagles. My wife, Margaret and I while living in Colorado spent some time each day driving by an eagles nest and watching young eagles being born. That was great.
Again, "But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
We are not alone. Verse 29 says, "He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless." So let's put our trust in the LORD, no matter what we are going through. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
