Thursday... Yes, it came from the one they had been with.


Acts 4:13b (NLT), "They also recognized them as being with Jesus."

Thursday... Yes, it came from the one they had been with.

We work so hard at our confidence and our reputation. We so want to be respected, looked up to, and acknowledged. But we don't realize how important it is for us to who we spend our time with. Yes, that is really important.


I am now reading in the book of Acts in the New Testament. This book could be called the Acts of the Apostles or the Acts of the Holy Spirit. I have just finished the last of the four gospels which are all about Jesus and his time on earth but he has been crucified, resurrected and has now gone on to heaven to be with his Father so this book is about the ones who had been with him, who had been left behind with a great task.

Now Peter and John two of Jesus' Apostles who had spent three years with Him had done what Jesus would have done on the way to the temple. They had healed a lame man and the religious leaders didn't like it because they did it in Jesus' name and they had killed Him.

So they arrested them and Acts 4:13 says, "The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures." And then it says "They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus." That is an awesome verse. "They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus."

And that makes so much difference in our life and who we are and what we do. So, are we spending enough time with Jesus and in the Scriptures so that others recognize that we are different? That makes so much of a difference.

Yes, there is so much to be learned out in our world. But there is also so much that God wants us to see and know and live and learn.

Now I know it is so important for our kids to go to the right schools but spending time in God's Word is also so very important. "They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus."

I'm afraid we are in this age in which we live spending enough time with Jesus. What we say on the internet shows where we are spending our time. Our attitudes, our responses, our desires shows where and with who we are spending our time.

So let's keep on the right track with Jesus.

Yes, "The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus." It is amazing what a difference we could really make.

Yes, let that be true in our lives. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Now we have to believe them in order for them to have an impact. David wrote Psalm 57 while he was in a cave hiding from Saul who wanted to kill him and he says in the last part of verse 1, "There I will stay." Tuesday... We just have trouble listening.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." Tuesday... We just have trouble listening. Over in Jeremiah 25:4 (NLT) it says, "Again and again the LORD has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention." And Jeremiah went on to tell what was going to happen. There will be consequences if we do not listen to what God says through his Word. Now the Apostle Paul over in 1 Corinthians was having a problem with some professed Christ followers who were having trouble at listening. And we too can have problems at listening. We can think that being a Christ follower means we do a lot of finger pointing and we give up on people who don't do what we say. We can even do that in our families. But Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." In verse ...

Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute.

Proverbs 19:2 (NLT), "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." Friday... It is so exciting but wait a minute. This time of the year is so exciting. We get our paycheck from work and then we head to the store or Amazon and buy and buy and buy all those presents and then our check is gone Proverbs 19:2 (NLT) says, "Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." But buying gifts can be so much fun and seeing how happy they are when opening those presents makes us feel so good. But then verse 3 says, "People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then they are angry at the Lord." Now for some that is their life. They get money and they spend it on their wants with no thought of what needs to be paid. An important lesson that we have learned is just because you have money in the bank doesn't mean you must spend it. But our enthusiasm takes over.
