Psalm 124:7 (NLT), "We escaped like a bird from a hunter's trap. The trap is broken, and we are free!"
Thursday... Yes, we know who broke the trap.
Now that is true of me. There have been traps set into my life where I was rescued. Yes being trapped for some is the end of the story. But not the writer of Psalm 124:7 (NLT). He writes, "We escaped like a bird from a hunter's trap. The trap is broken, and we are free!" Now too many times on my own that would not have been true.
here are so many who are still in that trap and it hurts. It really does.
Now verse 8 says, "Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." That has been true of me.
Over in John 20 one of the twelve disciples was in the trap of seeing before believing. Jesus had been resurrected and he had been seen by a few of the disciples but not Thomas.
Verse 25 says, "But they told him, 'We have seen the Lord!' But he replied, 'I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and placed my hand into the wound in his side.'" And that is a trap that so many have today. I must see to believe.
Eight days later Jesus appeared to them again and Thomas was with them and Jesus knew what Thomas had said. Verse 27 says, "Then he said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!'"
Verses 28-29, "'My Lord my God!' Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told him, "You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.'"
Some are trapped because they believe they can get out of any trap in their lives by themselves. But they can't and they aren't. They need help.
Again, "Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." Listen, "Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!" Not just in yourself but in the LORD. who made heaven and earth and whose son was resurrected from the grave.
Now John in verses 30-31 tells the reason why he wrote his book of John, He says, "The disciples saw Jesus do many other miracles in addition to the ones in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name." So maybe your reading the book of John in the Bible is a great place to start to get out of the trap that life is all up to you and that you have to see in order to believe.
So, "Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!" Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
