Psalm 95:7b (MSG), "Drop everything and listen, listen as he speaks."

Tuesday... Let's do it.

There is so much that goes through our mind and it isn't all for our good.

Now God's voice is not always the loudest. So what do we do to hear him because what he says is so. so important?


Psalm 95:7b (MSG) says, "Drop everything and listen, listen as he speaks." Yes, the drop everything is so important. There is so much that goes through our mind and as I said, it isn't all for our good. So this is a great piece of advice. "Drop everything and listen, listen as he speaks."

Now this statement is at the end of two important verses. Verses 6 -7b in the New Living Translation says, "Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only we would listen to his voice today."

Yes, there are so many voices striving to get our attention and if only we would listen to his voice today. You see, God is our maker, he knows all about us. He is God, not a human who thinks they know it all. And we are his people. Again, WE ARE HIS PEOPLE!!!

Yes, I was made by God and I am one of his people. Now my kids will always be my kids but there comes a time when I am no more responsible for them. Oh they are in this world because of me and my wife but we at a point gave control and responsibility over to them. It is not always easy to not have an opinion but we are no longer responsible.

Now God also has given us over to ourselves but and this is a big but, "We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only we would listen to his voice today." Yes we do have a choice in there. We can choose to not listen to him but that is not really the smart thing to do.

Of course, I may still want my kids to come to me for advice but I am not God and there is a big difference. Verses 3-5 (NIRV) says, "The LORD is the great God. He is the greatest King. He owns the deepest parts of the earth. The mountain peaks belong to him. The ocean is his, because he made it. He formed the dry land with his hands."

And then verses 6-7b, "Come, let us bow down and worship him. Let us fall on our knees in front of the LORD our Maker. He is our God. We are the sheep belonging to his flock. We are the people he takes good care of. If only you would listen to his voice today." That is a big if only that will make such a difference in our lives.

Now the Amplified Bible amplifies verse 6. It says, "Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker [in reverent praise and prayer]." Yes, yes!

The Message Paraphrase says verses 6-7b this way, "So come, let us worship, bow before him, on your knees before God, who made us! Oh yes, he's our God, and we are the people he pastures, the flock he feeds. Drop everything and listen, listen as he speaks."

That is so great! So let's do it! Let's, "Drop everything and listen, listen as he speaks." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Nehemiah 6:16b (NLT), "They realized this work had been done with the help of our God." Tuesday... I wonder what would happen if we didn't take the credit? Over in the Old Testament in the book of Nehemiah it tells of a major task that through the leadership of Nehemiah was accomplished. The walls of Jerusalem had been torn down and God had laid it on Nehemiah to build those walls back up. When our enemies and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were frightened and humiliated. They realized this work had been done with the help of our God." Now, we so many times want to take credit for doing the impossible. It would make such a difference for us. But I wonder what would happen through us if God got the credit? Thursday... Maybe we need this word today.

Psalm 57:1b (NIRV), "There I will stay until the danger is gone." Thursday... Maybe we need this word today. There are words in life that give us confidence no matter what we are facing. Now we have to believe them in order for them to have an impact. David wrote Psalm 57 while he was in a cave hiding from Saul who wanted to kill him and he says in the last part of verse 1, "There I will stay." It was a safe place and Saul didn't know that he was there. But he doesn't stop there. With confidence he said, "There I will stay until." And until is definitely a word of faith and confidence. "There I will stay until the danger is gone." Do we need that today? Let me give you the whole verse. In verse 1 David says, "Have mercy on me, God. Have mercy on me." And that is a great place to start in times of trouble. Maybe that is what we need to pray today, "Have mercy on me, God. Have mercy on me." It is so great to have someone...

Tuesday... We just have trouble listening.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." Tuesday... We just have trouble listening. Over in Jeremiah 25:4 (NLT) it says, "Again and again the LORD has sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened or even paid attention." And Jeremiah went on to tell what was going to happen. There will be consequences if we do not listen to what God says through his Word. Now the Apostle Paul over in 1 Corinthians was having a problem with some professed Christ followers who were having trouble at listening. And we too can have problems at listening. We can think that being a Christ follower means we do a lot of finger pointing and we give up on people who don't do what we say. We can even do that in our families. But Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT), "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." In verse ...
