Psalm 146:5 ((NIRV), "Blessed are those who depend on the God of Jacob for help. Blessed are those who put their hope in the Lord their God."
Monday... So where do I put my confidence?
In this day in which we live where do we put our confidence, who can we really trust? Now it really does depend upon who we listen to and each of us can have a bias. Now Psalm 146:5 (NIRV) makes it perfectly clear who we are to listen to. It says, "Blessed are those who depend on the God of Jacob for help. Blessed are those who put their hope in the Lord their God."
Right before this, verses 3-4 (NLT) says, "Don't put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them."
Now the Psalmist goes on. In verses 5-8 in the New Living Translation of the Bible he says, "But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The Lord frees prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the godly."
God is our source, our confidence, yes he works through people but we need His Word and His Spirit within us to show us the truth.
Proverbs 26:23 says, "Smooth words may hide a wicked heart, just as a pretty glaze covers a pot." We need the Lord to open our blind eyes. Yes, we can make mistakes on our own but we can have God's Word and His Spirit leading us.
And then I read this morning in Revelation 15:3-4, "And they were singing the songs of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb: 'Great and marvelous are your works, O Lord God, the Almighty. Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous deeds have been revealed.'"
Yes, God is the one to put our confidence. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
