Titus 3:4 (NIRV), "But the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared."
Thursday... It's because of what he did.
Now Paul says to Titus in 3:3 (AMP), "For we too once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various sinful desires and pleasures, spending and wasting our life in malice and envy, hating one another." We were definitely blowing it.
And in the midst of all of that, verse 4 (NIRV) says, "But the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared." It isn't our self control that makes the difference. But we love to take credit.
Verses 5-6 says, "He saved us. It wasn't because of the good things we had done. It was because of his mercy. He saved us by washing away our sins. We were born again. The Holy Spirit gave us new life. God poured out the Spirit on us freely. That's because of what Jesus Christ our Savior has done."
Verse 7 says, "His grace made us right with God. So now we have received the hope of eternal life as God's children."
It is because of what he did.
Now in verses 1-2 Paul says, "Remind God's people to obey rulers and authorities. Remind them to be ready to do what is good. Tell them not to speak evil things against anyone. Remind them to live in peace. They must consider the needs of others. They must be gentle toward everyone."
But some would say that they don't know what our rulers and authorities are like. Oh by the way, the Jewish rulers killed Jesus and the Romans killed Christians for fun. "But the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared." And a movement was started. It's because of what he did. And he still wants to do the same today in and through us.
Yes, he wants to save us by washing away our sins and giving us a new life. We really do need him to make a difference in us so we can be a part of making a difference in our world. I love it. "But the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared." He is where the difference comes from. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
