Colossians 4:5 (NLT, "Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity."
Monday... Let's remember why we are here.
Now Paul in writing this letter to the Colossians tells them the reason why we are here. And I think it may be important for we who are followers of Christ today to be reminded of why we are here and what our tasks are.
Paul writes in verses 2-4, "Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should."
Grant it, we are not in prison but we are living in a divisive world and God gives us many opportunities to speak to others and show them about what a difference Christ can make in their lives.
Now the next two verses are important. Verses 5-6 says, "Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone."
A lot of our conversations are not gracious and attractive even in our homes, are they?
The Message says, "Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don't miss a trick. Make the most of very opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them off."
Let's remember why we are here. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
