Psalm 73:2-3 (NLT), "But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness."
Friday... Yes, we have it so good.
At my age I have some problems with stumbling. It is so important for me to keep my focus on the path I am on. Experience has taught me the importance of focus and that stumbling and falling can be dangerous for me.
Now Asaph the writer of Psalm 73 also had some problems with stumbling. In verses 2-3 (NLT) he writes, "But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness."
I'm sure that you have found that the Evil One uses the, life isn't fair, a lot in getting us off track. We see it all around us if we are searching for excuses in being down and discouraged. Yes, there are a lot of people who are wicked but successful. Life isn't fare. We may be doing all we can to live a good life but are having problems meeting our responsibilities. Life isn't fair. It is so easy for us to stumble when we see things around us that just aren't fair.
Now, it is defiantly a trap. Yes, there are difficulties in our life but if we have a relationship with God then we have so much good going for us. The Psalmist keeps going on with this negative focus until verses 16-18 and then he says, "So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is. Then." and that is such an important word. "Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked. Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding off the cliff of destruction." Then he changes his focus.
Verse 28 says, "But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone the wonderful things you do."
It is all in the focus. Verse 28 in The Message says it this way, "But I'm in the very presence of God - oh, how refreshing it is! I've made Lord God my home. God, I'm telling the world what you do." Yes, we have it so good. Please God, help me change my focus onto you. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
