Thursday... We are not perfect but...

Psalm 59:17 (AMP), "To You, O [God] my strength, I will sing praises; For God is my stronghold [my refuge, my protector, my high tower], the God who shows me [steadfast] lovingkindness."

Thursday... We are not perfect but...

Yes, I am not perfect but God "shows me [steadfast] lovingkindness." Yes he shows love and kindness.

Psalm 59:17 (AMP) says, "To You, O [God] my strength, I will sing praises; For God is my stronghold [my refuge, my protector, my high tower], the God who shows me [steadfast] lovingkindness."

I really enjoy reading the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament. I am reading right now in John and this morning I found this encouraging situation in John 14:8 (NLT), "Philip said, 'Lord show us the Father, and we will be satisfied."

Now if we were just newbies to following Jesus that might be understandable but Philip was one of his 12 disciples who had been following and listening and living with Jesus. And that was a dumb statement. But Jesus didn't put him down but accepted him and showed love to him and kindness.

First of all Jesus didn't need to put people down in order to build himself up. Yes, we do that too many times even with the people we love. But God shows us that love and kindness go together.

In verse 9, "Jesus replied, 'Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don't know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show you?'" And he goes on and explains again who he is. Yes, he could have really given it to him but he loved him and he showed kindness in his reaction.

Again, Psalm 59:17 (AMP) says, "To You, O [God] my strength, I will sing praises; For God is my stronghold [my refuge, my protector, my high tower], the God who shows me [steadfast] lovingkindness." The NLT says, "O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love." And yes we need that and so do those in our family, in our friends, in those at work, in those who live next door.

They are not perfect and neither are we so we need unfailing love and lovingkindness when we blow it. Yes, I need "the God who shows me [steadfast] lovingkindness." And I need to give it! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.  It really can. I have found that unless I give the correct email of my wife then I can't get what I wanted. I put an extra i in her email and I have been working for 5 days to get it changed. Unless has been useless. The writer of Psalm 94 uses this word and shows how important it is. Verses 17-19 (NLT) says, "Unless the Lord had helped me, I would have soon settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, 'I'm slipping!' but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." "Unless the Lord had helped me." So many people go on and on and on striving to live their life on their own but they keep slipping and doubting and living without hope and cheer. Yes the Lord has such unfailing love for us, he really does but unless we have a relationship with him and we turn to him and ask him for help then the unless turns in to useless because h...
