Acts 12:16 (NLT), "Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally saw him, they were amazed."
Tuesday... It just needs to be opened.
There are so many doors in our life that if we would open them we would be amazed.
In Acts 12 there is a door that was shut and then opened in amazement. Yes, it just needed to be opened.
Have you ever prayed and prayed and there is a door that has the answer on the other side but we keep praying and not opening it? There is alway a part for us to play in our prayers.
Now here King Herod decided it was a good thing for him to kill these followers of Christ. He killed John's brother James and then arrested Peter, put him in prison ready the next day to bring him to trial and then kill him. So, there were many of Christ's followers who gathered to pray for Peter's release and for God to answer their prayers.
Yes, prayer is a good thing to do but there must be faith and expectation from us when we pray. Prayer is not just an emotional release, it is also the way God works in our lives and yes we have a part in it being answered.
Now an angel answered their prayer and broke Peter out of prison. Acts 12:6-10 (NLT) tells of the exciting rescue and then Peter went to one of the homes where people were gathered praying for him and he knocked on their door waiting to go in to tell then how God had answered their prayer but the door was closed, Now he knocked and a servant girl recognized Peter's voice and verse 14 said, "she was so overjoyed that, instead of opening the door, she ran back inside and told everyone. 'Peter is standing at the door!'"
So what did the people who had been praying say? Verse 15 says, "You're out of your mind!' they said. When she insisted, they decided, 'It must be an angel!'" These are the people who had been praying for Peter to be released or saved.
And then verse 16 says, "Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally saw him, they were amazed." When they opened the door they were amazed.
Now somewhere in that city I'm sure someone was praying with anticipation and expectancy and possibly there was someone in that group who wasn't surprised.
Psalm 143:1 says, "Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous." And verse 7, "Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don't turn away from me, or I will die. Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you."
Let's remember who we are praying to and be ready to open the door to the answer whatever it is because of his unfailing love that we have put our trust.
Yes we can trust him because of his unfailing love. There will be an answer so open the door with expectation and anticipation. He can be trusted to show us where to walk as we give our self to him. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
