Isaiah 32:19-20a (NLT), "Even if the forest should be destroyed and the city torn down, the LORD will bless his people."
Tuesday... Even if is not the end.
We live in a world where we put our happiness in so many different ideas and voices, and we strive to be positive. We say even if bad happens we will still be happy but when it happens we live with such deep despair. We put our trust in our ability to be happy but then bad happens.
Now Isaiah, a prophet in the Old Testament of the Bible lived in very difficult times.
In Isaiah 32:6 (NLT) he writes, "For fools speak foolishness and make evil plans. They practice ungodliness and spread false teachings about the LORD. They deprive the hungry of food and give no water to the thirsty." And that is also true even in the day in which we live.
But he goes on. In verses 19-20a he says, "Even if the forest should be destroyed and the city torn down, the LORD will bless his people." Somehow we need to really catch on to that truth even in the day in which so many live. Even if bad happens "the LORD will bless his people." Even if fools practice ungodliness and spread false teaching, "the LORD will bless his people."
Now the Amplified Bible translates verse 20 this way. It says, "Blessed (happy, fortunate) are you who cast your seed upon all waters [when the river overflows its banks and irrigates the land], you who allow the ox and the donkey to roam freely." Even if bad happen and floods overflow it has a positive effect, it irrigates and your animals will be able to eat and live.
God can take bad and turn it into good. I love how the New Living Translation says verses 19-20a, "Even if the forest should be destroyed and the city torn down, the LORD will bless his people." No matter what the fools say.
Verses 17-18 (NIRV) says, "Doing what is right will bring peace and rest. When my people do that, they will stay calm and trust in the Lord forever. They live in a peaceful land. Their homes will be secure. They will enjoy peace and quiet."
And then verses 19-20a, "Hail might strip the forests bare. Cities might be completely destroyed. But how blessed you people will be!" Even if is not the end.
And the New Living Translation says verses 19-20a this way, "Even if the forest should be destroyed and the city torn down, the LORD will bless his people."
Again, Even if bad happens "the LORD will bless his people." Yes, yes #todaysbeginning
