Psalm 63:1 (NLT), "I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him."
Thursday... So, let's wait quietly.
Now waiting quietly is so difficult and it is dependent upon who we believe is in control. Now if we think it is us then we are not so quiet are we?
Now King David writes in Psalm 63:1 (NLT), "I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him."
I am also reading a chapter a day in the book of Ecclesiastes and it is a very honest book. Solomon is the writer and he is known as the wisest man who has ever lived. He also wrote the book of Proverbs and I spend a lot of time in that book.
Now in the first verse of chapter 2 (NLT) of Ecclesiastes, Solomon writes, "I said to myself, 'Come on, let's try pleasure. Let's look for the '"good things"' in life.' But I found that this too, was meaningless." And he goes on and comes to the conclusion that all in life that we really give ourselves totally to do are meaningless without God.
In verses 24-25 he says, "So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?" In verse 26b he writes, "God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him."
Now Solomon's dad, David wrote a big portion of the Book of Psalms and in Psalm 63:1 he says, "I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him." Now we need to get this fact settled in our life.
I also read Mark 13 this morning. In this Jesus is telling his disciples what are going to be the signs of when he will return. Yes, he is about to be crucified. We will acknowledge tomorrow on Good Friday that Jesus was crucified and then on Sunday we will celebrate Easter and his resurrections. I'm still not sure in chapter 13 that the disciples realized all of that is about to happen but Jesus still gives them and us a head's up of the fact that he will return.
With what is happening in the MIddle East right now it is good for us to acknowledge that God has a plan and that he is is control and for us to as David said, "wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him." Yes, our victory comes from him.
Some want to get out in front and tell the world what is about to happen, at least what they think is going to happen. But we don't know. David said, "I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him."
He goes on to say in verse 2, "He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken."
But some could say, "But I am scared about what is happening" and that is understandable. There is so much unknown out there but again David writes, "I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken."
Yes, there are situations in my wife, Margaret and I right now and I needed this thought today.
Yes, let's wait quietly before God. Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
