Psalm 77:11-12 (MSG), "Once again, I'll go over what God has done, lay out on the table the ancient wonders; I'll ponder all the things you've accomplished, and give a long, loving look at your acts."
Friday... So let's face today with focus.
There are at some times in our life so many things that keep us awake and we may go to our friends for help. And the Proverbs says there is help in many counselors but sometimes it just makes us more confused.
Now the Psalmist in 77:11-12 (MSG) gives such good advice. He says "Once again, I'll go over what God has done, lay out on the table the ancient wonders; I'll ponder all the things you've accomplished, and give a long, loving look at your acts." It really could be a focus thing.
The Egypt Red Sea
He starts this Psalm by saying in verse 1 (NLT), "I cry out to God; yes, I shout. Oh that God would listen to me! When I am in deep trouble I searched for the Lord."
Now each time it seems is different. It may be easy to realize that God is listening but other times it is difficult. Have you found that true? So what do we do in those times? "Once again, I'll go over what God has done."
Once again it is focus. Proverbs 17:24 (AMP) says, "[Skillful and godly] wisdom is in the presence of a person of understanding [and he recognizes it], but the eyes of a [thickheaded] fool are on the ends of the earth."
In Luke 10 Jesus visits two of his good friends in their house. So one of the sisters heads to the kitchen to prepare a big dinner but the other sister sat at Jesus feet, listening to what he taught. Verse 40 says, "But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, 'Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come help me.'" Verses 41-42, "But the Lord said to her, 'My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all the details. There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.'"
Psalm 77:.11-12 (NLT) says, "But then I recall all you have done, O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works."
One of the things of focus is what happened at the Red Sea. Verse 16, "When the Red Sea saw you God, its waters looked and trembled."
Verse 19, "Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters - a pathway no one knew was there!" I love that, "a pathway no one knew was there!" That is the kind of God we follow and serve. So we need to keep our focus on the one who knows what he is doing. And that is the phrase I found in my searching today, "a pathway no one knew was there!"
Yes, we may know how to make a big dinner but God knows so much more. By the way it says, "When the Red Sea saw you God, its waters looked and trembled." And then, "When I am in deep trouble I searched for the Lord." And, "O LORD; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works." And also he knows, "a pathway no one knew was there!" Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
