Proverbs 12:16 (NIRV), "Foolish people are easily upset. But wise people pay no attention to hurtful words."
Thursday... But it is so easy to do.
Look at this, Proverbs 12:16 (NIRV) says, "Foolish people are easily upset. But wise people pay no attention to hurtful words." The New International Version says, "Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult."
And even at 78 when I should be wise I can get upset. This verse hit me right between my eyes.
The Amplified Bible says, "The [arrogant] fool's anger is quickly known [because he lacks self-control and common sense], but a prudent man ignores an insult."
I also read in Matthew 26 how Jesus handled a very difficult situation. Now in this chapter Jesus was in an olive grove called Gethsemane and he was praying. He knew what was about to happen. He knew that he was about to be arrested and then crucified and he was asking his Father if their was another way to handle what he about to go through and he asked his disciple to pray with him but each time he came back to see them, they were asleep.
Now in verses 40-41b (NLT) it says, "Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, 'Couldn't you watch with me one hour? Keep watch and pray so that you will not give in to temptation.'" And later in the chapter Peter blew it. He couldn't handle three different times of being insulted. He even denied knowing Jesus.
It later says that Jesus was arrested and taken to these Jewish leaders who wanted to find something they could use to kill Him. In verses 62-63a it says, "Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, 'Well, aren't you going to answer these charges? What do you have to say for yourself?' But Jesus remained silent." And Jesus handled all that he went through as he was falsely accused all the way to the Cross and his being killed.
"Foolish people are easily upset. But wise people pay no attention to hurtful words." And "Keep watch and pray so that you will not give in to temptation."
But it is so easy to get upset but we don't have to do. Again Proverbs says, "The [arrogant] fool's anger is quickly known [because he lacks self-control and common sense, but a prudent man ignores an insult."
Thanks God for the encouragement and the example. Yes, Yes! #todaysbeginning
