Philippians 3:1 (NLT), "Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I did it to safeguard your faith."
Monday... Such a great way to view life!
I love this book of Philippians. Paul is writing this letter while he is in prison. Philippians 3:1 (NLT) says, "Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I did it to safeguard your faith."
Now I listen to what a man says who is in prison even though he doesn't deserve to be there. We yell all the time, "But I have my rights." But what if we are treated unfairly? How do we handle that?
People get into dangerous fights over parking spaces, over being cut off on the highway. There is so much anger in this world and I'm sure that some of those are Christians.
Paul in prison says, "Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord." Whatever happens. There are a lot of fights at home, between husband and wife, between parents and kids and even at church. But I have my rights.
Notice he says, "Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters," He's not talking to non-Christians he's talking to those who are brothers and sisters in Christ.
Somehow we need to get this into our life. He says no matter what happens at home, on the highway, in trying to find a parking space, in line, and even if you are in prison, or you make a major financial mistake or someone else does it to you, you lose your job, "Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord." We must listen to him because he is writing this in prison and he's there because of his faith.
He goes on and says, "I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith." Rejoicing is a safeguard to our faith. We either believe that God is working in our life or he's not. And if we rejoice it strengthens our faith that He is working in our life.
God had Paul in prison to use him to be an influence on the leaders of Rome through the Royal Guard. He had the same guards that the leaders of the Roman Empire had. God knows what he is doing. He was also there to write a big portion of the New Testament and Paul is still influencing today the world through his writings.
If you are a follower of Christ whatever injustice you are going through God has his hand on you so rejoice in the Lord. That is what faith is all about.
"Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I did it to safeguard your faith." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
