Psalm 11:1a (AMP), "In the Lord I take refuge [and put my trust]."
Thursday... So what can we do?
Good question. We are going through such difficulties, such anger, such destruction.
David in his day writes in verse 2 (NLT), "The wicked are stringing their bows and fitting their arrows on the bowstrings. They shoot from the shadows at those whose hearts are right." And then in verse 3 he writes, "The foundations of law and order have collapsed. What can the righteous do?"
Now verse 1b says, "Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety!" But David says in the first part of that verse, "I trust in the LORD for protection. So why do you say to me, "Fly like a bird to the mountains for safety!" And for some who don't have a relationship with God they would think that running would be a good thing, And I'm sure some today feel like running to the mountains.
Verse 4 says, "But the LORD is in his holy Temple; the Lord still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth." No, God is not hiding in his Temple.
Verses 4-6 in The Message Paraphrase says, "But God has not moved to the mountains; his holy address hasn't changed. He's in charge, as always, his eyes taking everything in, his eyelids unblinking, examining Adam's flesh and blood inside and out, not missing a thing. He tests the good and bad alike; if anyone cheats, God's outraged. Fail the test and you're out, out in a hail of firestones, drinking from a canteen filled with hot desert wind." There will be a day.
Verse 7 says, "God's business is putting things right; he loves getting the lines straight, setting us straight. Once we're standing tall, we can look him straight in the eye."
The NLT says, "For the righteous LORD loves justice. The virtuous will see his face." Verse 1a (AMP), says "In the Lord I take refuge [and put my trust]." That is the right thing to do! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
