Isaiah 32:19-20a (NLT), "Even if the forest should be destroyed and the city torn down, the Lord will greatly bless his people."
Wednesday... Even if, the Lord will!
Life does have a lot of potential bad even if's but how we face them and who we face them with makes such a difference. The potential even ifs don't need to hold us back.
The prophet Isaiah wrote this. In 32:19-20a he writes, "Even if the forrest should be destroyed and the city torn down, the Lord will greatly bless his people." And Isaiah was going through one of those tough even if times but he reinforced the fact that the Lord will bless his people no matter what was happening. And that is what we need to believe.
Now one of the problems is we look at the even if as a fact and are always in turmoil. We seem to live looking at the bad that could happen and be deeply distressed because such and such might happen. But being held back with the even if view of what might happen is taken care of by living with the fact that the Lord will greatly bless his people no matter what might happen.
The writer of Psalm 92:1-2a gives us a great way to deal with the even ifs. He writes "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening." We do not have control of our even ifs but we do have control of our giving thanks and singing praises and to proclaiming God's unfailing love in the morning and his faithfulness in the evening.
Do you know that I made it through Covid, through a Democratic President and now a Republican President. And all three of the even if's happened and are happening and God has blessed me through all of those even ifs.
Psalm 92:4-7 says, "You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. O Lord, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: Though the wicked sprouts like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed."
And back to Isaiah 32:19-20, "Even if the forrest should be destroyed and the city torn down, the Lord will greatly bless his people. Wherever they plant seeds, bountiful crops will spring up. Their cattle and donkeys will graze freely."
Remember, Even if...the Lord will! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
