Monday... Now this does make a difference. It really does.

There are some habits that have a negative affect but there is one that does make a major difference in our life. It really does.

Acts 10:9b (NLT) says, "Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon." And verse 30a says, "Cornelius replied, 'Four days ago I was praying in my house about this same time, three o'clock in the afternoon.'" These two men at different times but everyday did the same thing and it was used by God to bring them together. They prayed, they connected with God and it made such a difference in their lives and those around them.

Prayer is not just a time for us to tell God what we want and need but it is a time for God to speak to us and tell us what he wants and needs. Prayer is not only a time to speak but to listen.

It is important to see that Cornelius was a Roman army officer who was a devout, God-fearing man. Yes, he was a Roman not a Jew. And verse 2b said, "He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God." That set him a part from other Romans.

Now during one of his prayers an angel of God said to him in verses 4b-5, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering! Now send some men to Joppa, and summons a man named Simon Peter."

And verse 9 says, "The next day as Cornelius's messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon." And in this time of prayer God prepared Peter for what was about to happen. And the key is, both of these men spent time with God and God used these individual times to bring them together.

God wants to give us stuff that we don't even know we need. And connecting with God on a regular basis does make such a difference in our lives. It really does! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...

Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do

Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT), "When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?" Friday... Yes, we need them. We really do. No, not the fact that I can go out my front door and look out at night at the marvels of the sky. I can do that and it is amazing and it takes my breath away each time I see it. Yes, that is a fact but the reality of who did that and the wisdom and the faith that I have to believe that and to marvel that the one who did that cares about me makes such a difference in how I live my life. Yes, God really does. That is so wonderful for us to believe. And that is why faith and wisdom are so important. Now whatever belief you have at how that marvel happened must also be believed through faith. And the sad thing to me is that more and more people have been taught that there is no God and therefore he did not have a h...

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.

Wednesday... Our unless can turn into useless.  It really can. I have found that unless I give the correct email of my wife then I can't get what I wanted. I put an extra i in her email and I have been working for 5 days to get it changed. Unless has been useless. The writer of Psalm 94 uses this word and shows how important it is. Verses 17-19 (NLT) says, "Unless the Lord had helped me, I would have soon settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, 'I'm slipping!' but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." "Unless the Lord had helped me." So many people go on and on and on striving to live their life on their own but they keep slipping and doubting and living without hope and cheer. Yes the Lord has such unfailing love for us, he really does but unless we have a relationship with him and we turn to him and ask him for help then the unless turns in to useless because h...
