Thursday... Let's win!

Proverbs 10:25 (NLT), "When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation."

Thursday... Let's win!

This is a reality. Proverbs 10:25 (NLT) says, "When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation." It says when not if. The storms of life do come.

Now here in the desert we are going through some good times. I sat outside this morning looking up at the mountain behind our house and had my coffee and water and i read my three chapters in the Bible and connected with God through prayer. No physical storm but we are having some personal ones. No relationship storms but some life changing ones. Yes, storms are a when not an if.

Verse 25 starts in the New Living Translation with a when. "When the storms of life come," But it doesn't stop there. it shows two different ways to handle them. First of all this Proverb says, ''the wicked are whirled away," The Message Paraphrase says, "When the storm is over, there's nothing left of the wicked." Verse 24 says, "The nightmares of the wicked come true." It may not be now but it will be later. Not an if but a when. Yes they may be positive people but there positivity will not last.

There is another side. Verse 25 (NLT) says, "When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation." The Message says, "When the storm is over, there's nothing left of the wicked; good people, firm on their rock foundation, aren't even fazed." Yes, "good people, firm on their rock foundation, aren't even fazed."

Verse 24 says, "The nightmares of the wicked come true; what the good people desire, they get." Yes there is a difference between wicked and good people and the outcome of their storms.

Now the storms do cause some wobbles but our foundation doesn't let us fall or be blown away.

We have had some storms outside our new house but the foundation has been firm and it is still standing. Yes, we have gone through some major storms in our life but we are still holding steady.

Proverbs 10:5 says, "Make hay while the sun shines - that's smart; go fishing during harvest - that's stupid."

Verse 16 says, "The wage of a good person is exuberant life; an evil person ends up with nothing but sin."

Verse 22, "God's blessing makes life rich; nothing we do can improve on God."

Verse 28 says, "The aspirations of good people end in celebration; the ambition of bad people crash."

Psalm 10:4-6 (NLT) says, "The wicked are too proud to seek God. They seem to think that God is dead. Yet they succeed in everything they do. They do not see your punishment awaiting them. They sneer at all  their enemies. They think, 'Nothing bad will ever happen to us! We will be free of trouble forever!"

Verses 16-18 says, "The Lord is king forever and ever! The godless nations will vanish from the land. Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them. You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them."

The last part of verse 16 in The Message says, "God's grace and order wins; godlessness loses." In our storms of life let's put our trust in God. He is our firm foundation! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Friday... We have this hope of expectancy.

Psalm 5:3 (NLT), "Listen to my voice in the morning Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." Friday... We have this hope of expectancy. Now David found a great way to start his day. He says in Psalm 5:1-3 (NLT), "O LORD, hear me as I pray." And that is a great place to start. It really is. Morning sunrise He goes on, "Listen to my cry for help, my King, my God, for I pray to no one but you." And that is so important. We don't try to pump ourselves up by ourself. No, we pray to no one but you, God, my LORD, my King. Now this relationship with God is so, so very important. And then David says, "Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you" And that is so great. And then he says, "and wait expectantly." Yes, we have this hope of expectancy. We are experienced. That is what a relationship with God and a moment by moment connection does. It makes a difference in our daily wa...

Friday... Yes, we can know this to be true.

Psalm 12:6 (NLT), "The Lord's promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over." Friday... Yes, we can know this to be true. Maybe this is what you want to say in this day in which we live. Psalm 12:1-2 (MSG) says, "Quick, I need your helping hand! The last decent person just went down, all the friends I depend on gone. Everyone talks in lie language; lies slide off their oily lips. They doubletalk with forked tongues." Do you ever feel that way?" Have you found that to be true? Well David the writer of this Psalm continues and says in verse 6 something to encourage us, to lift us up, to give us hope. Psalm 12:6 (NLT) says, "The Lord's promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over." The Message Paraphrase says verses 6-8 this way, "God's words are pure words, pure silver words refined seven times in the fires of his word-kiln, pure on earth as well as in heaven, God, keep ...

Friday... So what is it that you really fear?

1 Corinthians 15:57 (NLT), "But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ." Friday... So what is it that you really fear? Yes, fear holds us back. It seems to take hold of us so that we can't even really enjoy living. Now I have found that one of the best ways to handle fear is to solve the problem of what we fear. Let's say that death is what we really fear. Everyday we wake up afraid to get up because we are afraid to do anything because we are afraid to die. And that is so understandable. Now I have found the solution to fearing death. I have through faith taken care of my fear to die. 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NLT) says, "But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ." Verse 22 (CEV) says, "Adam brought death to all of us, and Christ will bring life to all of us." Death was not God's plan. Adam was created for an eternal life but he and his partner, Eve blew it and sin a...
