Thursday... This is interesting.
We use so many different ways to explain and describe something. The writer of Psalm 48 uses the city of Jerusalem and it's walls.
Verses 12-14 (NLT) says, "Go inspect the city of Jerusalem. Walk around the many towers. Take note of the fortified walls, and tour all the citadels, that you may describe them to future generations. For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever and he will guide us until we die."
Now it is almost impossible to describe God but this helps. One thing the writer says is, "take note of the fortified walls." We can know that God is around us, protecting us like fortified walls.
Verses 4-7 says, "The kings of the earth advance against the city. But when they saw it they were stunned; they were terrified and ran away."
Now we build so many walls to protect us. Proverbs 18:11-13 says, "The rich think of their wealth as a strong defence; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety. Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor. Sprouting off before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish."
We think we have it covered. We really do but do we, really?
1 Corinthians 8:2-3 says, "Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn't really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes." We can be so haughty, so proud but humility because of God's love for us and living in and through us is how God recognizes us. Verse 3 in the Amplified Bible says, "But if anyone loves God [with awe-filled reverence, obedience and gratitude], he is known by Him [as His very own and is greatly loved.]"
Psalm 48:9-10 says, "O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple. As your name deserves, O God, you will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with victory."
Yes, love describes God and he lives it out in so many ways through those who love him. And "He is our God forever and ever and he will guide us until we die." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
