Thursday... Ok, it can be a trap.
Yes, there is a part in whatever we do that comes through us. But there is a danger in taking it too far.
Proverbs 3:7 (NLT) says, "Don't be impressed with your own wisdom, instead fear the Lord and turn away from evil." It seems there is danger in being impressed with yourself and with taking it too far.
Satan knows all about this thinking too highly of yourself. It got him into trouble as an angel and he was kicked out of heaven. And he still hasn't gotten this taken care of. He still thinks he is better than God and he always is trying to get us to think the same way, to follow his example. And our going too far in being impressed with our own wisdom is dangerous, it is a trap.
Right before this in verses 5 & 6 it says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."
Verses 19-20 shows us something really impressive. It says, "By wisdom the Lord founded the earth; by understanding he created the heaven. By his knowledge the deep fountains of the earth burst forth, and the dew settles beneath the night sky." There are some things that we think we do that may seem to be impressive but this is really impressive and he wants us to seek his will in all we do.
And he wants to give us wisdom, his wisdom. He is the sources of wisdom. It comes from him. Verse 13 says, "Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding."
And then verse 21 (NIVR) says, "... do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight. Hold on to good sense and understanding of what is right." Verse 23, "Then you will go on your way in safety. You will not trip and fall." That's what happens when we get too impressed with our own wisdom. That is a trap. Then verses 25-26 (NLT), "You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap."
Again verse 7 and then verse 8 (AMP), "Do not be wise in your own eyes;" That is a trap. "fear the Lord [with reverent awe and obedience] and turn [entirely] away from evil. It will be health to your body [your morrow, your nerves, your sinews, your muscles - all your inner parts] and refreshment (physical wellbeing to your bones." And that is really, really impressive! Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
