Saturday... Oh to have a good day, but.
That word, but, can make such a difference. Oh to have a good day but I am miserable, but I am having so much trouble, but I am afflicted, but, but, but. See what I mean? Just to want to have a good day without the but can make such a difference. The difference comes from what God/god we put our trust.
Proverbs 15:15 (NLT) says, "For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast."
The Message says, "A miserable heart means a miserable life; a cheerful heart fills the day with song."
The Amplified Bible says, "All the days of the afflicted are bad, but a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of the circumstances.]"
Now look at this. Psalm 135:5-7 (NLT) says, "I know the greatness of the Lord - that our Lord is greater than any other god. The Lord does whatever pleases him throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in the depths. He cause the clouds to rise over the whole earth. He sends the lightening with the rain and releases the wind from the storehouses."
And then verses 13-18 (MSG), "God, your name is eternal, God, you'll never be out of date. God stands up for his people, God holds the hands of his people. The god of the godless nations are mere trinkets, made for quick sale in the markets: Chiseled mouths that can't talk, painted eyes that can't see, carved ears that can't hear - dead wood! cold metal! Those who make and trust them become like them"
No wonder some have so many buts in their lives.
Verse 3 (NIRV) says, "Praise the Lord, because he is good. Sing praises to his name, because that is pleasant." I love that, "because that is pleasant." Now that is the way to start and have a good day. "Praise the Lord, because he is good. Sing praises to his name, because that is pleasant." Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning
