Friday... There's a whole lot of fretting going on.

Friday... There's a whole lot of fretting going on. That is true in our day and it must have been true in David's day.

He mentions the word three times in the first 9 verses of Psalm 37.

Verse 1 (NIV), "Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die." The NIRV says, "Don't be upset because of sinful people." Don't be upset but pray for them, have a burden for them. "Like grass they will soon dry up. Like green plants, they will soon die." Love doesn't get upset, it prays for them.

Verse 7, (NIV), "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes." Patience and waiting before the Lord goes a long way. The NIRV says, "Be still and wait patiently for the Lord to act. Don't be upset with other people succeed. Don't be upset when they carry out their evil plans."

And then verses 8 & 9, "Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret - it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land."

Verses 8 & 9 in the MESSAGE says what we need to hear today, "Bridle your anger, trash your wrath, cool your pipes - it only makes things worse. Before long the crooks will be bankrupt; God-investors will soon own the store."

So, let's get with it. Let's get out of the fretting and always being upset and anger business that we seem to be living in even in the church. "It only makes things worse."

Verses 3 - 5 (NLT) says, "Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you."

So let's get out of the fretting business into the waiting patiently, the trusting, the doing good, the hoping and the delighting in the Lord business. Remember, "God-investors will soon own the store."Yes, yes! #todaysbeginning

Monday... He did it by Himself

Isaiah 44:24b (AMP), "I am the Lord, Maker of all things. Who alone stretches out the heavens, Who spreads out the earth by Myself." Monday... He did it by Himself. Many have a tendency to think very highly of themselves and what they can do. Oh we do have great ability but we are not the source. Yes it is important to have self-confidence but we are limited. The prophet Isaiah in 44:9-10 (NLT) says, "How foolish are those who manufacture idols. These prized objects are really worthless. The people who worship idols don't know this, so they are all put to shame. Who but a fool would make his own god - an idol that cannot help him one bit?" Now later in verse 24 (AMP) he writes, "For the Lord, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb says, 'I am the Lord, Maker of all things, Who alone stretches out the heavens, Who spreads out the earth by Myself.'" I love that. "By Myself." Now we do need confidence but we are foolish to ma...

Friday... We have this hope of expectancy.

Psalm 5:3 (NLT), "Listen to my voice in the morning Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." Friday... We have this hope of expectancy. Now David found a great way to start his day. He says in Psalm 5:1-3 (NLT), "O LORD, hear me as I pray." And that is a great place to start. It really is. Morning sunrise He goes on, "Listen to my cry for help, my King, my God, for I pray to no one but you." And that is so important. We don't try to pump ourselves up by ourself. No, we pray to no one but you, God, my LORD, my King. Now this relationship with God is so, so very important. And then David says, "Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you" And that is so great. And then he says, "and wait expectantly." Yes, we have this hope of expectancy. We are experienced. That is what a relationship with God and a moment by moment connection does. It makes a difference in our daily wa...

Wednesday... It didn't just happen.

Psalm 16;10 (NLT), "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." Wednesday... It didn't just happen. We are headed into a weekend of deep emotion. One that we really really love was killed and it didn't just happen. David in Psalm 16:10 (NLT) writes of this happening. He says about God, "For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave." We read over in the Gospels at the beginning of the New Testament in the Bible of the life of God's Son who came to earth to be our sacrifice so that our soul would not be left among the dead. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to be buried at death and just left there. But he also shares that Jesus who was going to be killed as a sacrifice for our sins would not have to rot in a grave. David many generations before foretold this and that is what happened. Now that had to be a God thing. We can guess a lot about our future and we d...
